The AmVets Auxiliary will hold a holi- day bazaar Saturday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sweet Home Veterans Club, 580 Main St. Items for sale include handcrafts, baked goods, raffle prizes, a photo booth and more. Lunch will be available. Christmas Parade The annual event begins at 11 a.m. Sat- urday, Dec. 8. This year's theme ts "Home for Christmas." The parade starts at the Sweet Home High School Football Field on 22nd Avenue and runs west on Long Street to 10th Av- enue. Wells Fargo Bank and the chamber will team up to provide hot chocolate in the park- ing lot directly behind the Rio Theater from 10 a.m. to after the parade is taken down. Sweet Home Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade Downtown Mile and Stroll The mile-long walk/run will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, starting and finishing at Sweet Home High School. Held just before the Christmas Parade, this event is an effort-to help get you warmed up-for the big show and raise some needed funds for the high school track and field and cross-country programs. You'll finish right on the parade route, so you won't have to run or walk much farther than a mile. Cost is $12 per adult (over 12) and $7 per child. Save $2 by registering at the Chamber of Commerce, 1575 Main St. before 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7. SHAF Christmas tree auction sets records The Sweet Home Alumni Foundation's ninth annual Trees for Scholarships Auction raised a record of more than $2t,000 for the foundation's efforts to send local high school graduates to college. The event, at the Sweet Home High School Cafeteria on Saturday night, Dec. 1, drew a record crowd of approximately 225, organizer Mary Sue Reynolds said. "We raised a lot more than we ever have before," she said. "The energy and fun that people had in there was great." Twelve elaborately decorated Christmas trees were auctioned off, for amounts ranging from $250 to $1,000. The money will be used for scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000 for local students. Since 1982 SHAF has awarded more than $30,000 in scholarships.
