Report taken. 5:27 p.m..- Jimmy Allen Salmela, 69, and James Allen Reed, 21, cited for open container, 1500 block of Tamarack. 7:40 p.m. - Carlynn Elizabeth Herring, 23, cited for failure to obey traffic control device, 15th and Main. 8 p.m. - Officer located black bag at park on 12th and Nandina. Placed in property. Oct. 21 4:36 a.m. - Caller reported a single vehicle hit fence, 40100 block of Mountain Home. Hit and run involved 20 feet of damaged fence. Investigation continuing. Oct. 20 1:14 p.m. - Stolen Ford F350 from Weyerhaeuser mill between Lebanon and Sweet Home recovered, 29200 block of Liberty. Vehicle had been stripped of most parts and left in a ditch. Oct. 19 10:08 a.m. - Caller reported a green dump truck in a ditch. 41300 block of Marks Ridge. Non-injury, single-vehicle crash. Driver told deputy that his brakes failed while going downhill, and he drove the truck into the ditch to slow the truck down. Oct. 18 8:16 a.m. - Caller reported that someone had broken into a shed at Holley Church, 40300 block of Highway 228. Three bundles of blow-in insulation stolen. Report taken. 5:35 p.m. - Bennie Lee Bell, 33, arrested for assault, 24800 block of West Brush Creek. Cited and released. Caller had reported her son had been struck multiple times. 6:38 p.m. - Andrew J. Polequin, 55; Robert E. Polequin, 32; and Brandon J. Polequin, 20, cited for trespassing, 40000 block of Upper Calapooia Drive, behind marked Weyerhaeuser main gate. Oct, 17 3:27 p.m. - Caller reported that .someone shot one of his goats, 44000 block of Whiskey Butte. Goat located in tall grass on pasture 100 feet below the road. Caller reported seeing spotlighters almost every night. Report taken. 7:19 p.m. - Caller reported that someone went into her barn and turned on three water faucets, flooding the barn, which contains hay, 28200 block of Ridgeway. She did not know if any of the hay got wet. The property is gated. Report taken. Photo by Chris Pinto North River collision A smashed Geo Prizm sits on North River Drive following a collision Monday afternoon, Oct. 22. According to Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Cone, Scott Heinz, 25, of Sweet Home was backing a 2001 Ford Focus out of a driveway in the 41900 block when he saw the 1994 Geo, driven by Julie Thompson of Sweet Home, approaching just after 2 p.m. Cone said Heinz told investigators that he realized he was going to be struck on the driver's door, so he accelerated and the Geo hit the rear passenger 'S door instead. Cone said Heinz, who suffered a cut on the back of his head but refused medical attention, was cited for failure to yield right of way and driving while suspended and without insurance.
