Police are wrapping up the in- vestigation and planning to forward it to the District Attorney's Office for review, said Sgt. Jeff Lynn. "We're still waiting for some forensics, and then it will be sent to the DA," said Police Chief Bob Bur- tion continues ford. "We don't believe speed or al- cohol or drugs were involved. We're investigating whether the driver was otherwise distracted." The van was driven by Florinda Erickson, 42, of Independence. Po- lice said she was not injured. Police believe that she was trav- eling at around 45 mph, Lynn said. Erickson's vehicle was west- bound in the inside lane of Highway 20, Lynn' said. Cole was crossing the highway from the north to south near 49th Avenue as Erickson's ve- hicle crested the hill there in front of Hillside Market.
