:11, T 'r - May 30, 2012 SPORTS Page17 i Track From page 16 Johnson said he hopes to compete at the BorderDuel Track Classic June 2, at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, which will bring together athletes from Washing- ton, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. He said he then hopes to continue throwing at Lane Community College, where Hall has al- ready signed to run track. For Hiett, the state meet was also a first-time experience. "It was really neat how big and profes- sional the meet was," he said. "Everything went like clockwork, everybody was in the right spot. At every comer everybody was clapping for you. +' He said he was happy with his 3000 performance, which took place after the weather had warmed up to the mid-70s on the track. "The heat didn't bother me," he said. "I listened to what (Allen) said and I must have picked off four or five guys. I just wished I could have picked off that last guy," Hall had a tough time on Friday, get- ting confused by the lines on the Hayward Field track and briefly running out of his lane in the 400 prelim, and slowing down on the home stretch because, he said, he thought he was going to be disqualified. As it turned out, he wasn't and although his slow-down and subsequent fourth-place finish (in 51.85) had coaches worried that he hadn't made the final, he did, in seventh place.
