Sweet Home, Cottage Grove
at Philomath
The Huskies competed "very
well" at an April 4 meet with Cot-
tage Grove and Philomath, hosted
by the Warriors, according to
Snow.
Sweet Home placed third with
50 points, behind Cottage Grove
(68) and Philomath (60) in the boys
competition, but Snow said he
moved a lot of athletes into events
that were new or unusual to them
as they prepared for the Junction
City meet on Saturday. In the girls
competition, Sweet Home was third
with 46 ½ points behind Philomath
(80 ½) and Cottage Grove 48.

Dakotah Keys makes Olympic Trials "B"
standard with decathlon PR performance
Dakotah Keys won the
110-meter hurdles and set personal
bests in the discus, javelin and pole
vault as the top collegian and sec-
ond overall in the decathlon at the
Sam Adams Combined Events last
week.
Keys, a redshirt freshman at
the University of Oregon, finished
with 7,682 points.
Keys won the hurdles in 14.87
seconds. He then set PRs of 117-8
inthe discus, 15-9 in the pole vault
and 209-1 in the javelin, a 12-foot
improvement. He was fifth in the
1500 in 4:37.92.
Keys' score is the fifth-best in
the NCAA this season and exceed-
ed the ."B" qualifying standard of
7,600 points for the Olympic Trials
in Eugene this summer. The "A"
standard is 7,900 points. "B" stan-
dard qualifiers are eligible to com-
pete in the trials, but do not receive
help with travel and other expens-
es, which "A" qualifiers receive.
Keys' brother-in-law, Jayce
Calhoon, has already qualified for
the U.S. swimming Olympic Trials
in the 200 backstroke.

"I think we've been working
really hard during practice in the
cages," Humphrey said, and that
showed at bat in this game. 'It
wasn't just one or two getting it
down. It was our entire lineup, top
to bottom, that was swinging it
well."
Pitching, Marchbanks started,
striking out five batters and giving
up one walk and three hits.
Graville pitched the last two
innings, giving up one hit and no
walks with four strikeouts.
At bat, Wyatt and Marchbanks
went 2-2. Cochran and Riggs went
2-3 with a double and a homerun.
Sierra Thayer went 1-1 with a
triple, and Graville went 1-2.
