"I had 30 girls and only four had ever stepped on the floor before." The team placed as high as second in their competitions, which ended last week with a third- place finish. Their theme was "American," as indicated by their costume colors: red, white and blue. Team members began practicing each morning - at 5:45 a.m. - in No- vember. Wrestling The ligers placed second at a duals tournament at Lowell, losing the championship match to the hosts by three points, Coach Tomas Rosa said. Three Tigers, sixth-grader Ricky Yunke and eighth-graders Tyrell Miller and Aaron Blanchard, qualified for the state tournment, held last Saturday. "It's pretty competitive to get into that tournament, Rosa said. Yunke and Miller did not place, though Miller finished one match away from a medal. Blanchard finished sixth after losing a close match in semifinals.
