Sweet Home, (541)401-0282 $600/month 8-9p The Huskies varsity girls team ended its season with a 90-54 loss at La Pine on Feb. 14 and a 45-26 loss at home to Junction City on Thursday. The team made improvements throughout the season, and they showed up during last week's game play. "'I think we got the looks we were sort of trying to get to at the end of the season." said Coach Robby Robinson. The team was finding 27 to 30 three-point shots and 45 to 50 two-point shots by the end. "I don't think we shot real well." he said. "But we're able to get off our shots without too many turnovers.'" Turnovers generally plagued the team, and Robinson thought the team had way too many unforced errors when a simple pass would have sufficed, he said. Still getting 75 to 80 shots up per game was a good sign. "I liked our effort." Robinson See Girls, page 20 Photo by Sean C. Anyone not registering by this date will be placed on a wait- ing list and added to teams if there is room. Players must pay at the time of registration. The Boys and Girls Club will hold baseball player evaluations for fifth through eighth grade on March 3 and April 7 for second to fourth grade. Evaluations for softball will be April 14. All player evaluations will be held at the Boys and Girls Club. The club encourages every- one to attend evaluations. When you register you will be given ad- ditional information about evalua- tions. If you cannot attend, please contact Shari prior to your sched- uled evaluation date at (541) 367- 642 l. The club is looking for coach- es for baseball and softball at all levels. If you are interested in coaching please stop by the club and fill out an application. ASA softball tryouts next week Tryouts for American Softball Association teams will be held on Feb. 27, Feb. 28 and March 1. A copy of the tryout form may be picked up from the high school athletic office. If tryout numbers are significant at the high school level, there will be a varsity team, a junior varsity team and a fresh- man team. Players will be chosen by abil- ity, so a promising freshman or sophomore could play at any level. Tryouts will run from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. for the 10-and- under team; 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. for the 12-and-under team; and 8:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. for the 14-and- under team. Girls should arrive slightly early for tryouts. For the 16- and 18-and-under teams, the coaching staff is in the process of developing a schedule, coaches and fields.
