"This was a good exlSerience for the team in several ways - the meet was held in the same pool that our district championships are to be held in, and it gave our kids a chance to compete in an evening meet, which we haven't don in quite a few years," Coach Doug Peargin said. The boys scored 141 points, followed by Blanchet (57), North Marion (56), Stayton (39) and Cas- cade (13). Blanchet's depth took its toll on the Sweet Home girls, as the Cavaliers scored 97 to the Hus- kies' 69 points, followed by Stay- con (58), Cascade (35) and North Marion (30). Individual winners for the boys were Don Rockstead in the 200 Freestyle (1:54.20) and the 100 Butterfly (58.73), Gravy Gun- selman in the 200 Individual Med- ley (2:07.82) and 100 Backstroke (1:00.19), and Zac Pearce in the 100 Freestyle (48.46) and the 100 Breaststroke (1:03.02). Winners for the girls were Naomi Gunselman in the 500 Free- style (5:43.74) and the 200 IM (2:21.85), Kimber Swanson in the 200 Freestyle (2: 14.92) and Emily Thompson in the 100 Breaststroke (1:21.34). "As a team we swam quite well, posting 13 PRs, which, at this stage in the season, is tough to do, being that we're into the toughest part of our training," Peargin said. "In a couple of weeks we'll start tapering off as we get closer and closer to the district meet." He said the toughest competi- tion from the district is shaping up to come from Blachet, Philomath and Central on the boys side and from Blanchet, Sisters and Stayton on the girls. The Huskies' next meet will be the Albany Invitational at 8 a.m. Saturday, in the South Albany pool.
